Historically, physician leadership often focused on medical staff management, serving in the roles of department chair or chief of staff, or on a medical society committee. While important, the skills required in these roles were associated with organizational management, local politics, and professional advocacy.
In the dramatically changing healthcare landscape, physician leadership requires additional and more complex skills ranging from change management, Health IT expertise, systems redesign, performance improvement, business knowledge, to the classic leadership skillsets of organizational management.
In this session we are exploring these new skills and how they can be developed.
